Botte. White lasting head. Clear amber body. Weak hops aroma (beer too cold). Mild hops flavor with surprisingly much carbon dioxide.

Poured a reddish brown with a medium sized light tan head. Aroma of dark fruits, brown sugar, and a light spice. Flavor matches the aroma. sweet, dark fruits and a spicy finish. Medium bodied.

From 11 oz bottle, pours a cloudy dark brown brew with a off white head. Aroma of dark plums, tart green olives and citrus. Tastes of fruit, grapes and chocolate cake. Sweet finish and a small fruit aftertaste. Another excellent Trappist Ale

Bottle best by 7/29/08. Looks like I finally got one of these that hadn’t gone bad. Deep hazy ruby pour with a sizable, well-retained creamy beige head. Wonderful aroma of bready malts, spices, currants, plums, other lightly roasted malts... Very complex on the palate (but no as much as its bigger brother), with much of the aroma flowing through. Flavor also picked up some caramel. Coated the mouth very well and was almost sticky. Long finish with dark fruit, bread, and spices. The brew went from good to great when it warmed to about 55-60 degrees.

Bottle (330ml). The 10’s little brother, very like him in character. Pours cloudy, not bubbly at all, minimal whisp of a head with a touch of lacing, some fine black sediment at bottom of bottle (not a problem). Spice, clove, touch of tobacco and fruit (ripe apple/pear), maybe a bit of yeast - malty-sweet on taste in addition. Lovely linger, with a bit of a surprising alcohol kick after several seconds. A perfect Belgian bruin when you’re not quite up to the challenge of the "10".

a wonderful sip. Complex spice mix. Great at end of meal, after meat and such. Replaces a great wine. Worth getting the signature glass and plunking down two or three times your cheap beer once in a while. Fruit (and the fig/date richness fruit) and hops and spice smell.

Another great classic that I had chance of trying tonight. The aroma was friendly to me, slightly warm. Outside was getting dark, Christmas lights were on. The cloudy amber type look, the white head on the top, the snow outside on the street. Flavour was full of intensivity, full of complexity. There was some bitterness, some marzipan sweetness. You could notice some dry fruits as well. Very complex yet specific. Overall nicely balanced.

2009-04-15. Dark lightly hazy brown body with some ruby highlights in the light, modest foamy beige head. Aroma of sweet dark fruits with a mild alcoholic undercurrent. Flavour is similar, sweet malty base with dark fruits and mild touches of chocolate on occasion. Finish is more dry than the rest, showing just a bit of rough alcohol presence. Smooth medium to full bodied palate. Age has muted the alcohol a touch but also the flavour. Still rather nice, but I think I prefer it a bit more fresh. 7+/4/7/4/16 Bottle from Premier Wine and Spirits, Halifax. Best Before240608

2003-07. Smooth and sweet, malty. Big head on it... creamy mouth feel. A touch of fruit.. others describe it as chocolaty. Pretty warming Very nice.
