| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 5, 2004 Updated: May 29, 2004Bottle dated "20 02 07" (bottled February 2002). Really "steamed" as crown was popped. See my rating of Rochefort "10", many similarities. Key differences: 1) Kept me slightly more sober to write this review. 2) Seemed more carbonated and lively on the palate 3) More hint of red in the hue 4)Seemed to have been even more "ripe" (fruits have mellowed in flavor and heightened in aroma), as this sample was 5 months older than the "10" tasted previously. This "8" has the highest production at Rochefort, and I can see why. A product worth driving to get (in my case, nearly 400 miles to Lexington KY). Re-rating leaves a slightly lower overall impression adrian910ss (1432), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Smells of tart, chocolate, figs, raisins and vanilla. Taste is a complex combination of sweet tart, bitter chocolate, figs, banana, vanilla, and raisins. Another excellent brew made by the monks !! hawkshadow (102), Rural Retreat, Virginia, USA

Aroma is light and pleasant, grain and hoppy with nothing overpowering, but balance in all. Taste is sweet and salty, finishes more salty with very slight bitter. The alcohol warms my throat and back of my tongue with the aftertaste. Absolutely good. I definitely would recommend this to anyone.

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Feb 10, 2008 Freaking fantastic...better than I remembered the 10. Pour was dark brown with just beautiful pillowy head. Head was so nice that I took a break to put my daughters to bed, came back 10 min later and it was still there. Aroma just leapt out of the glass...plums, chocolate. The flavor was as rich and full as a quad, as light and crisp as a trippel. Plums, dark fruit, a touch of chocolate...yet strangely light and refreshing. Mouthfeel was thick, perfect level of carbonation. Truly great! Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark

When you smell it.... A wonderful aroma of dried fruit, roasted barley, tobacco and some sweetness. And when you taste it... Amazing taste, big mouthful with notes of caramel, choclate and a great complexity. One of my favourites. Quinten (959), zaandam, Netherlands
