So full yet so delicate - a masterwork that many have noticed. Nice slightly fruity aromas and palate. Very gently spiced - not the harsh spices that brewers claim in order to excuse sharpness. Gives an odd illusion of a glazed meat in its full sweetness. Bierkrug (300), Idar-Oberstein (in Pakistan), Germany

However that beng said it had a nice brown color with a light brown head with perfect lacing. Aroma of brown sugar. Alcohol not well hiden bt it grows on you when you drink it. Over all a great beer but not something that I want to drink all of the time. Travlr (787), Washington, Washington DC, USA

Absolutely beautiful, complex nose. Milk chocolate and roasted coffee malt with raisin, maple syrup and pine. A leathery yeast is prominent, and the perfectly strong alcohol carries all these flavours to each corner of your skull. The aroma is almost a meal in itself!
The flavours are simply amazing. That obvious leathery yeast with raisin and caramel. There is a spiciness of pepper and aniseed that tingles the lips.
Rich toffee flavours mix with the roast malt and mild coffee to make milk chocolate.
Very full bodied, and the alcohol and spice give it that glorious, warm finish. Awesome.

Overall Impression:
This one is a really, really top quality beer, I’d put it just a smudge behind the it’s brother the 10.

A hazy dark red pour with a typical stable and frothy head. The aroma reminds me a lot of the empty wooden barrels of red wine in my uncle’s winery, together with light caramel and whiskyish notes. Definitaley a citric component too, not sure about its origin. The flavour is... Wow, really amazing - mouthfilling, warming chocolate/walnuts, dark, ripe fruits and again delicious sweet caramel. Light roasted malt in the finish, together with a nice bitterness. The carbonation is medium but very adequate, complementing the mouth-coating creaminess this beauty leaves behind. This is similar to Rochefort 10, yet a gem on its own - more drinkable and less annihilating alcohol-wise. Love it! Bloekie (165), Belgium
