I actually see no difference or just a little bit in flavor but it’s great and those two are definititely the beers I could drink every day, 10 of them or more :) beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA

Rich aroma of fruits, cake, caramel, roasted nuts, figs, chocolate, and light spices. Malt flavor is amazingly complex, bursting with flavors, one minute fruit, the next sweet cake flavors, next roasty chocolate. The alcohol never shows, leaving with a sweet, but not cloying, after dinner beer. Jerre (1768), Waregem, Belgium

I love all the Rocheforts but this is my fave in terms of flavor and drinkability. Pours a dark, opaque black/brown color which reveals big, yummy chunks when held to the light (where it belongs!). Much like my ChrisTania, proof that there is indeed a heaven...Nice, diminishing head with sticky lacing. Can serve cold right out of the fridge with little or no bitterness or bite. Head diminishes but never completely. Each swish of the glass reveals a complex, heavenly bouquet of light bananas, sweetbread, spices, friuts, and caramel. Flavor follows suit and is quite incredible - if this doesnt make you smile then I can’t say what would...Mouthfeel is silky and drinkability is top notch. All the Rocheforts are outstanding but I think this mid-gravity is my fave. It’s tough to distinguish perfection from perfection though... psujmatt (2), Austin, Texas, USA does not count | 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | May 20, 2008 My assessment might also be biased, because this is the first true Trappistes beer that I ever tried. With that said, I nearly cried when the high-quality liquor store in town told me that it was no longer available for purchase in the state of Texas. Apparently the type of bottle that it ships in is now illegal in Texas. I can’t imagine how that’s possible, but that is what the manager told me, and a second store confirmed it. MrGGen (243), Italy
