Great initial taste; complex taste with a some fruityness and a nice spice to it. Finish is wonderful and lingering with a slight burn to it. I could drink this all day long. Definately in my top few beers. I can’t wait to find a 10 to try, as these Monks really know how to make a beer. Amazing. Merrill (76), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Aroma of bittersweet chocolate and cognac with a bit of pepper. Sweet malts and alcohol with just enough hops to make it fly. Rally very subtle candied fruit, licorice and gin. Every sip is better than the last. Velvetymouthfeel and the finish is licorice that tapers very smoothly I would make this my favorite of the 3 Whelk (124), Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England

Pours a reddish brown.
Foamy head that retains very well.
Fruit, raisin, plum in both aroma and flavor.
Soft on the palate, almost velvety.

Bevuta al 501 un paio di sere fa dopo che mi avevano erroneamente (per fortuna) detto che era esaurita. markwise (1186), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA

It pours the typical slightly red brown color with a tiny amount of off-white head. Big flavors in this beer including candy sugar, dark fruit, milk chocolate, caramel/ toffee, and bourbon. Phenomenal. Chapel (330), Levittown, New York, USA

Pours opaque red/brown with sediment. Tan thick head with a solid constancy that deflates like a good Belgian beer. Aroma of light coffee, mostly dominated by yeast. Lots of semi-sweet chocolate roasted malts upfront with a mildly citrus alcohol burn. Texture is thick and milky. cyrenaica (440), Milton, Ontario, Canada

9.2% ABV
The beer was clearly marked 9.2% as opposed to 9.3%. I tried this beer on December 28, 2007 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto. The beer poured a dark brown with a huge generous brown head that lasted and lasted. The aroma was very yeasty with some dark fruits and spices. The mouthfeel was full bodied with some mild carbonation. The flavour was very malty followed by some yeasty tones. A very good beer, but not as good as the ’10’
