It has a raisin and chocolate taste to it which is quite good. It is probably the best Belgian I have had to date. There are many more to try. Even better the second time. YK23 (271), Haifa, Israel

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 23, 2005 this beer is fantastic. it’s a tad less complex and weaker than the 10, but still damn near perfect. everything is wonderfully balanced and the feel in the mouth is smooth yet exciting. dark fruit, plums, brown sugar, a bit of citrus, coffee, toffee, malt, chocolate flavors all harmonize with eachother in this dark, dark, slightly amber beer. the head is moderate with smallish bubbles with nice lacing and a moderate realease of gasses. this beer is complex and delightful. cheers! green (187), Boston, Massachusetts, USA

The aroma is a symphony of dried fruit, banana and spices. A taste of plum caramel and a hint of chocolate. Fine balance between sweet malt and alcohol. ekstedt (2447), Göteborg, Sweden

Pleasant, somewhat creamy mouthfeel with a moderate carbonation. Flavor is fruity, with some yeast character and well integrated sweetness and alcohol. Louipa (121), USA

Re-rate: the 8 is better than the 10. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA

Pours a thick brown color, with a dense, cloud-like head. Flavors are deeply complex. Smooth roasted malts, dark fruits, some clove spice and a bit of alcohol warmth finish things off. Probably my favorite of all, due to the rich complexity and balance of flavors.
