Flavor was slitghty sweet, and alcohol was hidden nicely. This beer balances out well and is a top one of my list. beerandsteak (12), Syracuse, New York, USA

Chocolate, coffee, fruits... this beer is great for rewarding yourself. Pours a wonderfully dark, rich body, with a head that lets out some amazing aromas. Alcohol is masked very well, goes down smooth, with a satisfying aftertaste. Squeezed this bottle ’till the last drop, this beer ain’t cheap. But it was certainly worth it. Still have a 10 hanging out, that’s next. vanvenlo (794), Glen Iris, Australia

Medium brown cloudy and reasonable lacing and head. Lovely light fruit that is well rounded and big hopped. The flavour doesn’t hit you on the head. Light fruit finish and well balanced spirits. Lighter than I expected, subtle and easy drinking. blatantdream (78), New York, New York, USA

I was so excited to try this and have been wanting to try it for so long. Complex flavors bursting into your mouth. Excitement ensues. Very smooth and big on the palate and extremely pleasant sweet, bitter, spiced aftertaste that engulfs the mouth. tennisjoel (951), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 26, 2006 Bottle. Belgian candy and fruit aroma. Thick frothy head. Very good...in fact, it’s grrrrrrreat (says Tony the Tiger). So smooth for over 9% ABV. Spicy taste with liquid candy. More watered down than the RT 10, but this one comes close. I can’t see how anyone with a developed palate would not like this. alobar (1042), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA

Bready aroma with hints of chocolate, and fruit. Amber brown color. Taste is fruity (banana), with yeast/bread, and a hint of chocolate. Worth the wait! weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 6, 2006 Appears a red toned mahogany color with a fluffy light tan head that slowly fades out. Chunks of streaky lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of figs, cocoa, brown sugar, molasses, bananas, plum, and raisins that are mixed into a sugary batch of yeasty cake and spices.
Taste is of the same aromas that come together nicely.
Mouthfeel is slightly carbonated up front but finishes with a warming molasses and cocoa touched alcohol bite. yngwie (5024), Kristiansand, Norway

Aroma is malty, with alcohol, raisins, candi sugar and cocoa. Sweet, malty flavor with warming alcohol, raisins and bitterness. Full to medium body and a finish with alcohol and lasting bitterness. It’s a shame this classic costs almost $8 in Norway. Rating: 8-5-8-4-17-4.2. 060218
Bottle, BB 130813. Wauw! I really love the smell when pouring this one, always putting my face right above the glass when pouring. Prunes, cellar, dried apricots, alcohol, some roasted malts and yeast and even more dried fruits, and a lovely tobacco-like spicyness escapes the glass. When finished, at least for a while, sniffing the beer, I see a wonderful creamy, two-finger thick, beige head on top of an unclear, brown body. The head stays, and leaves some pretty lacings as the beer goes down my throat. In the mouth it’s full-bodied and warming, silky smooth and quite carbonated, but not feeling fizzy at any level. The flavor is sweet and malty, filled with dried fruits and some spicyness. Dried apricots, rum raisin and prunes at least. There’s some bitterness as well, and that cellar and yeast found in the aroma are also chiming in. Some peppery notes also finds it’s way down the throat. The finish is of the lasting kind, warming, sweet yet dry, bitter, lightly roasted and spiced, and with a lovely peppery touch in the very end. I have to admit I was really in the mood for a good Belgian tonight, and I knew this one would live up to my wishes. In that light my rating might be too high, but right now it’s worth every point. Really good to know it’s back in Norway, after a short absence. And that aroma is priceless. 090904
