Thick, creamy cappuccino-like head. Aroma was of sweet roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee, very slight hint of dates...as well as over-ripened cherries...amazingly complex. The flavor completely dominated my senses. Nice smooth creamy mouthfeel. This was an amazing experience, a gift from the gods... JFURYCAT (792), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA

My wife and I enjoyed this one very much. The palatte has a spritz of champage or fine wine. This would go very well with chardonnay or anything for that matter. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

I poured as gently as I could, and still filled more than two glasses. Aromas of dark fruits and molasses. Flavors of the same with some alcohol touches. Seemed that I tasted the alcohol more in the 8 than I did in the 10, may just be a faulty memory chip. Excellent Trappist ale. segfault (98), Centennial, Colorado, USA

Amazing head for the ABV. A decidedly Belgian aroma, hop spice, malt, not as much sweetness as expected, yet intriguingly complex. As I taste, a soft velvety light dry balance in the palate. Flavor is nutty and hop spices with a slight malt character. Complex, very nice. Drier that I’ve had in this style before. Lingering floral bouquet and malts in the aftertaste. Do NOT drink too cold, this one gets better and better as it warms. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA

A lovely creamy off-white head sits atop the body. Head gradually settles down to a thin coating across the surface of the beer that lasted as long as the beer did. Nice lacing, even in a tulip. Aroma is caramel, chocolate, cookies, some berries and dark fruit. Mostly sweet nose, but some roasted notes. Slight aroma of alcohol as well. Initial flavor is moderately sweet, cookie dough, milk chocolate, caramel, toffee, candi sugar, figs, and raisins. The flavors compliment each other quite well and are very balanced. The beer ends with warming alcohol, and a medium length, dry finish. This has an incredible mouthfeel, round, filling, very smooth and creamy. Lively carbonation dances on the tongue. Wonderfully complex, but without the hot alcohol that ruins the 10. Quiver (139), Augusta, Georgia, USA

The head was about 1 1/2 in thick after the pour. Shrinks down to about 1/2in through out the entire glass. The head was so frothy and thick that it looked like the rocky mountians and lasted throughout the beer. Unbelievable lacing that covers the glass.... on to taste.... extreamly complex. starts with a slight hoppy yet smooth with a little sweet fruity black cherry taste. Medium malt.... slight nutty roasted flavor, moves onto a warm slight hop taste.... Every taste brought a little something different to the table. Never had an alcohol taste, finished the same as it started... but you might have 4 or 5 different taste in the middle.... the palate coats your mouth and makes you shiver with excitement. The beer finishes leaving you craving another ride... All in all an awesome beer.... Adenila (958), Denmark

Decent fruity aroma and a very complex flavor containing different sweets and a bitterness to balance it out. VERY plesant palate, and enjoyable beer. CaptKirk (175), Hephzibah, Georgia, USA

This is a dark cloudy mystery that beckons to be tried. The first sip wakes the palate and puts your tongue at attention for a beer experience it has not had before. The plum and black cherries dance around you mouth. Even with the 9.2% alchohol, there is very little alcohol taste. This beer is worthy for anyone who wants to truly enjoy one of the best crafted beers available.
