| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 9, 2006 Pours a murky looking brown with a light brown head. Smell is fruit and spice. Had a sip or two while it was still cold and left it alone for 15 minutes for the flavor to come out. Some fruity sweetness at first and then a nutty flavor, walnuts maybe. A pleasing bitterness follows ending cleanly with the warmth of the wonderfully hidden alcohol. My best belgian to date. beerlady (461), lucerne, Switzerland

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 21, 2007 330ml Bottle: Pours deep brown, much darker than the 6, with very little head and ok lacing. Aroma of candy, oranges, and brown sugar. Much more complexity in the flavour with strong alcohol, cherries, almonds, oak wood, grass, plums, and yeast. Awesome. nramsburg (207), New York, New York, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 11, 2007 I love the aroma of this beer. Reminds me of a zinfandel crossed with a sancere/chardonnay. Dark fruits with breadiness, but a good bit of hoppiness to balance out any sweetness. Let me emphasize how exceedingly well balanced this beer is. If the 10 is better than this, then I’m in for a treat -- this is the best beer I’ve had to date (though I’m a fairly inexperienced beer drinker). eaglefan538 (2405), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 2, 2006 Updated: Jan 3, 2010Re-rate, 1.5yr old bottle in Jan 2010: Wonderful, rich floral plum flavors and aromas, this thing even beat out a Roche 10 of similar age, richer flavors, better overall mouthfeel, not as heavy. Great stuff. Original rating: Another impressive one from Roche. Poured with a genrous head, this one was a dark and cloudy amber with lots of sedimentation (just like the 10). Aroma was spicey and yeasty. Flavor was spicey (coriander) and lightly plum like. Was weaker and the mouthfeel was thinner than the Roche 10, but still pretty enjoyable. Alcohol came out much stronger than in the Roche 10. emarkd (24), Georgia, USA

Aroma is complex, sweet and malty - like fresh bread - with a noticeable alcohol smell. Wonderful in the mouth. Great body and balance, sweet and spicy and malty with a definite alcohol presence. Finishes with just a little aftertaste. Overall, It’s wonderful. mookieguy (17), USA
