Nice aroma and flavour of dried fruits, caramel, chocolate, malts and yeast. Definately deserves its high rating. PHXHOPLOVER (50), LAVEEN, Arizona, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 21, 2006 Pours dark brown, cloudy with floaties-maybe my fault. Light brown medium lasting head with fair lacing. Has aromas of berries, blackcurrant, caramel malts, a little sweet, but not cloying. Alcohol well hidden. The monks sure know what they are doing!! Worth $4 a bottle. Harsebrau (166), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 20, 2006 Large, light tan head that took its time to dissipate. The sludge from the bottom of the bottle rested in a swirl atop the fluffy pillow head. A cloudy beer that appears as though it might not let you in the gate. Mysterious. Dark and brooding. Yet the sniff was of fruit/citrus and caramel and malt. A well carbonated beer that is lively in the mouth. Malt, fruit, some faint chocolate?, a winter berry, and alcohol flavor. My first 8. Not my last. Grovlam (3810), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 18, 2006 Bottle. Have had the 6 and 10, so not it was time to battle with the 8. As with the others the 8’Th has some of the Rochefort trademark aroma and taste. It pours unclear and dark chestnut like in colour with and extraordinary coffee-cream like head. What a display of aroma and taste. Roasted caramel and candies, date, raisins, figs and some yeast. Slight liquorish, chocolate and nuts as well. Amazingly full bodied with an incredible well balanced bittersweet finish. I will never get tiered of Rochefort! nijuro (63), USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 27, 2006 wonderfully balanced, brown sugar, clove, nutmeg and plums. Really complex with a very nice mouthfeel. I actually prefer this to the 10, but I have another bottle of each, so we’ll see how it goes on the second go-around. mgermani (865), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 15, 2007 Pours a dark amber with a beautiful tightly-knit foam head with great lacing. Aroma of fermenting dark fruit - red apples, fig, dark purple grape, orange, mace, and brown sugar. Taste is dark and full - sweet milk chocolate, plenty of dark fruit, crisp hopping, notes of alcohol, with a warm slightly dry finish. Body is thick and creamy but carbonation is a touch too aggressive for my liking. What a treat, though! Excellent beer, great for an autumn evening tasting. gwpom (251), Akron, New York, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 24, 2007 11.2 oz bottle. This is the highest rated beer I’ve tasted since starting on this site, and it lives up to expectations. Cloudy brown coloring, tight head that hangs on a long long time, and a not-too-sweet fruity flavor that completely hides the 9.2 ABV. Wonderful beer, which only leaves me to wonder what the TR 10 must be like. Well, maybe next years tax return. afiskness (6), Columbia Heights, Minnesota, USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 5, 2007 Great beer that I wish I could drink more often. Dark brown color with light tan head, nose is full and fruity and caramel flavor.
