tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 2, 2005 (2005 Vintage listed as Old and Bitter) Grapefruit, lemon, floral hops are almost overpowering in the nose. Muddy brown body with low, off-white, fully diminishing head. Burnt malt, herbal-minty and citrus-orange hops and strong bitterness with stale malt character. Medium-full body with low carbonation and strong alcohol warming. Sampled at the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Beer Fest 2005.
Rastacouere (5409), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jul 28, 2005 under the name 2005 old and bitter. No head, hazy dull orange. Strong english hops nose. Agressive hoppiness, trying to be an imperial english bitter or something. Assertive harsh old bread flavors with spoiled corners. Grilled orange, agressive bitterness. Minty toothpaste feel, light-medium body. Pretty bad. Pailhead (2323), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Apr 20, 2005 On tap: Malty caramel and citrus aroma. Hazy orangish-amber with a white head. Nice lacing. Caramel up front with lots of citrus (orange) in the finish. Lots of orange, apricot, and peach in the finish. I didn’t get any alcohol flavor, burn, or warming affect. Could not tell that this was 11+ %. Aggie80 (686), Michigan, USA Apr 9, 2005 Bit cloudy, but a nice color. Weak head with a bit of lacing. I found the flavor rather bland. There was a touch of alcohol in the aftertaste.
