| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 2, 2009 Had a pint on draft at The Red Square in Burlington, VT. I enjoyed this brew a whole bunch and was surprised to see a sub-3 rating. Pours a rich, dark brown with a medium head. Nose is roasted malts and hints of hop. Flavor is complex, not surprisingly, dazzling the palette with the myriad sensations. Notes of caramel, chocolate and coffee. Finish is very smooth. I want to try this beer again. ononews9 (25), Hanover, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 16, 2009 12 oz bottle served in a clear pint glass. Pour was a dark tea color with 2 fingers of slightly off-white head. Nose is malt, chocolate, caramel, and light toffee. Taste is roasted malts, light caramel and chocolate, with a slightly bitter malt that lingers into the finish. This is quite a different spin on a barely wine. It seems more like a cross between a porter and strong ale.
