BuckNaked (1195), Tempe, Arizona, USA Jul 29, 2007 22oz bottle: Medium amber colored body with a large very light tan colored head that lasts. The aroma has grapefruit, wet spruce, and bits of earthy/wet grassy hops. The hops come through very wet and thick, though not as bright and citrus-scented as some other IIPA’s (this is not a negative or positive either way). There’s even a bit of sweet caramel and bits of sugar in the aroma, which is nice. The taste shows some bitter, grassy, wet hops that really show the bitterness, maybe moreso than they show a bright floral-citrus character. There’s also some nice malt character in here - caramel, light toast, light roasted nuts show up for just a bit, which really gives it a more complex flavor than all hops. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, finishes with some light roasted malt notes along with extended bitterness and lemon grass from the hops. Not a bad IIPA.
daknole (644), Plantation, Florida, USA Aug 12, 2008 Bottle. Cloudy amber/orange pour with a small bubbly head. Aroma is tart citrus, malt and some grass. Flavor hits with a thunder and lightning combo of malt and hops. They alternate on your tongue until the last hop bite coats the back of your tongue. Not bad. tomthompson89 (1100), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 11, 2008 had with Sammy his bottle copper color, decent white foam. Nose is citrus, some malt, flavor is kinda pine hops with some sweet cloying malts not bad but not a fav. Sammy (3023), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 8, 2008 Picked up at the brewery. Not all that balanced, it’s piney bitterness. Big bubbly off-white head on cloudy grapefruit. Bitter aroma. Some soap, carbonation. Ibrew2or3 (1648), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jul 20, 2008 Courtesy of Gillard. Pours gold with copper core and white head. The aroma is sweet grapefruit and orange with some malts in the back. I don’t get much else. The taste is nearing sticky malts and moves toward pine hop bitterness. I get faint grapefruit hops and near midway mildly roasted malts and malt sweetness. Certainly a nice load of bitter hops up front running into malt to the finish. fishingnet (800), Brandon, Florida, USA Jul 20, 2008 Bottle courtesy Gillard. Pours a clear copper with a large off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of citrus, malt, and caramel. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate to strong amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Good.
