A hop heads delight. The aroma is super fruity, hints of caramel malt, pine, grapefruit, wood, earth. Basically a shit ton of hops in this one with a nice underlying caramel sweetness. Pours a hazy orange brown with a huge big bubbled foamy head. Some caramel malts start out, not sweet, but a nice caramel base. Followed by this are an insane hop base that consists of citrus and pine. This moves into a ton of earth and wood which then lingers on the palate for a while. Almost tastes fresh hopped I would think due to the earthy leafiness. It does have balance, just the right amount. Love the hops, medium carbonation, finish that lasts forever. This is my style of beer. Thanks again for the hook up. I might need to get a couple more bottles of this for next trade. I could drink this everyday. BOLTZ7555 (1107), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 7, 2008 Sampled at Big Pour Mesa, AZ. Murky copper pour...with the same slight green tint as the Smoked Porter. Unfiltered...yellow head finishes into nothingness. Again, more IIPA than expected. Grassy, earthy hops...not very ESB like. In fact, I liked this more. Sparky27 (1608), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Pours a cloudy iced tea amber with a nice creamy beige head. Nose is earthy hops and light malt. Taste is more earthy hops, light malt and a big resin finish. Medium, creamy mouth feel. Very nice. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 28, 2008 My bottle says ESB2, not ESB3, but I’m sure it’s the same stuff. Pours a nice clear amber color with a huge creamy head that lasts and laces nicely. Aroma is lots of soapy and citrusy hops, with caramel malt and alcohol competing for recognition. Flavor is big on grapefruit peel hoppiness which lasts all the way through. The malt again competes on the palate, but loses. Smooth and creamy. I was a pleasantly surprised! craftycarl21 (562), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2008 Pours a hazy red-orange with a moderate frothy head. Aroma is subtle, with hops, grapefruit, and some floral notes. Flavor is similar, but the palate is really nice- smooth, and finishes with a great hop kick. Nice brew. oteyj (776), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2008 Pours opaque copper with decent frothy head. Aroma is loaded with citrusy hops- lots of grapefruit and lemon. Carmel malt rounds out the nose. Flavor is riddled with earthy hops- bitterness is had hitting but manageable. Not too much in the way of malt sweetness to balance out the hop brigade, but tasty just the same. Palate is a bit on the thin side with a semi dry finish. Enjoyable, but a little lacking in balance.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 20, 2008 pours a hazy pale golden color topped by a jinormous, that’s right jinormous white head and lots of spotty lacing. super hoppy aroma... resinous pine, grapefruit and some florals combine with caramel maltiness, spice and a touch of the abv%. the flavor is an intense and balanced mix of the aroma... almost like a dip of fresh hops with a spicy caramel chaser. parchingly dry hoppy finish grabs at the cheeks and doesn’t let go! full bodied with creamy carbonation and a super smooth texture.... i don’t see what this has tin common with an esb and i don’t really care. !bueno! | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 19, 2008 In short: An overly alcoholised hoppy American beer of some kind
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed relatively fresh 2 months after purchase
The look: Cloudy pale orange body topped by a medium white head
In long: Nose is pineapples and resinous hops. Taste is slightly fruity with, grapefruits, mandarins, clementines and pineapples. Frail malt backbone. Sweet flavours are white sugar and some honey. Alcohol apparent, too much so, I would have guessed even higher than 8%. Hopping has a very resinous but the bitterness is quickly crushed by the alcohol. Didn’t feel like an ESB at all, the hopping and everything here was really American style. If anything I’d describe it as an excessively alcoholised APA. Tone down the alcohol to 5% and we’d have ourselves a refreshing kind-of-APA. But as it stands this is a simple alcoholised hoppy beer. Not bad but not something I want to have again. The only complexity this beer possesses is in its name.
