22oz bottle, courtesy of argo0. Thanks, Aaron! Pours a slightly hazy, reddish-brown color; light tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Toasted cereal and roasted malts in the aroma; some bitter coffee / chocolate poking through. Medium mouthfeel: dark chocolate, toasted / lightly roasted malts, and some brown sugar; slight dryness; lots of chocolate and coffee coming through mid-palate. Medium, chocolate and toasty malt finish.

Appearance: Pours a dark, reddish-brown body with a scant, off-white head. Smell: Chocolate aroma of freshly-squeezed Tootsie rolls with a tart underlying fruitiness. Taste: A little caramel and chocolate maltiness. More of those tart, fruity plum skins. Dash of nutmeg. Mild bitterness. Not much of a finish, it just sorta ends. Mouthfeel: Just barely medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Simple, straightforward, and, well, that’s that.

Bottle 2006 (#2181 of 3800) Pours a deep brown, ruby in the light with a fading khaki head. Soft aroma malt aroma. Roasty and mildly earthy with some sweet fruity notes of raisins and brown sugar. Creamy with mild carbonation. Nice malt character in the flavor. Soft and roasty. Has a light fruity back of raisins and a slighyl pruney character. It nicely balanced with plenty of toasted earthiness and a light tobacco notes. Rounded, with a roasted finish. A solid Dunkler Bock, and extremely underrated.
