| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 17, 2006 Amber-copper body with a loose, cottony beige head. Aroma of sweet maple, cherry skins, and burnt wood. Tea-like, grainy malts come through in the flavor which is somewhat astringent and medium sweet. Lacks depth relative to most barley wines.

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Jun 29, 2006 Bottle, from Julio’s bottled So so nose, Malty sweet. Kind of musty cardboardy, some fruit, little grassy. Tinny. Clean orangy dark brown color, nice solid fluffy head that sayed most of the way, good lacing. Bitter flavor.Kind of sour grassy, sour, little ashy, Soapy. Lite body, for a BW, watery mouthfeel, bitter finish. I didn’t enjoy this one much. Blind I wouldn’t of guess a barleywine. I can only hope tis is not a good batch. brewblackhole (1380), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 20, 2006 Light carmelly malt aroma, some hint of maple, dark amber color, malty taste with hints of milk chocolate, mixed with some sweet carmel,no real friut esters, maybe a touch of alcohol, body seems thin, and it seems overcarbonated for a barleywine. Should be classifed something different mattd017 (51), Jacksonville, Florida, USA

Bitter and cereal. Mediuim finish, full of dark malt. A session barleywine? A strong mild? Underwhelming. Medium astringency, bitter overall. Dry with very light caramel. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 8, 2006 Updated: Jun 12, 2006Bottle. Pours dark brown with a nice thick off white diminishing head. Faint dark roasted malt and nutty aroma. Flavor is like a thin watery nutty porter. Then comes the rather weak finish, which is watery, dry, slightly roasty, and full of hairspray flavor. This lacks sweetness, hops, malt backbone, and so on. Not my idea of a Barleywine, especially at 7.5% CharlesDarwin (1845), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 21, 2006 Julios Spring Beer Festival. Pour of clear brown, fringed with tan. A distant sweet nutty aroma. Vacant flavor of distant rum and touch of tannins. Light nuttiness and a hint of sugars. This is weak. Palate is biting and bitterly dry. Hops? Overly thin bodied, not enough alcohol to carry flavor and the flavors that are present are mildly offensive.
