Caramelized sugar aroma. Clear, medium-dark brown. Medium to medium-light body, fizzy. Bitter and cereal. Mediuim finish, full of dark malt. A session barleywine? A strong mild? Underwhelming. Medium astringency, bitter overall. Dry with very light caramel. On tap, Ginger Man NYC.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a nice thick off white diminishing head. Faint dark roasted malt and nutty aroma. Flavor is like a thin watery nutty porter. Then comes the rather weak finish, which is watery, dry, slightly roasty, and full of hairspray flavor. This lacks sweetness, hops, malt backbone, and so on. Not my idea of a Barleywine, especially at 7.5%

Julios Spring Beer Festival. Pour of clear brown, fringed with tan. A distant sweet nutty aroma. Vacant flavor of distant rum and touch of tannins. Light nuttiness and a hint of sugars. This is weak. Palate is biting and bitterly dry. Hops? Overly thin bodied, not enough alcohol to carry flavor and the flavors that are present are mildly offensive.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours dark with a tan head. Aroma of roast, caramel, and sweet malts. Flavor is smooth, sweet, roast, with some bitterness.

thanks to 46er as a bonus...this one pours a clear brown and has very little head. Aroma is somewhat spicey and sweet...but there is a bit of metal too...yikes. Flavor is decent but very muted...not much of a barley wine here...and it definitely doesn’t taste like 7.5. What it does have is some clear hop bitterness and crisp ness...hardly an malt. Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated and watery.

lightly cabonated, not heavy even with the darkness and alochol content. Good head on pour, hangs on around the glass. The 22 oz bottle was nice, but doesn’t hold the carbonation very well. Good with a meal and after dinner.

Bottle Courtesy of jjpm74. Bottled date Sep 05. Poured a dark reddish brown with a small off-white head that quickly dissipated to a ring. Some lacing. Aroma of sweet dark fruits, malts, and light spices. Fruits and chocolate in the flavor. Medium/full body that had a slight bitterness throughout.

12 oz bottle thanks to eyedrinkale. a very dark-smelling and dark-tasting barley wine - medium bodied, with a lot of peat and smoke (surprisingly bitter as well). thinner than i like my barley wines, and drier.
