Dark red copper color and the head is creamy. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, grapefruit and candy sugar. The flavour has sweetness, notes of roasted malt, grapefruit (makes the beer a bit dry) and hints of licorice. The overall impression is thin and as a BW it feels a bit simple. Pours slight cloudy with a lacing white head. Mild mouldy and light malty aroma. Flavour has a mild bitter and slight malty note. Ends light and roasted malty with light barley classic flavours of wood and fruity malt flavours. Yet its quite thin bodied. dmac (1504), Toms River, New Jersey, USA

First off let me start by apologizing to everyone I bonused this out to, sorry I should of at least looked at the reviews before shipping this bland ass beer. Okay if this is a barley wine then I’m a prefesional body builder. Just because I go to the gym doesn’t mean I’m Arnold and just because you use a little extra malt doesn’t mean it’s a barley wine. Poured a decent looking clear dark brown with an average size foamy super light beige head. Initial aroma had a nice burst of molasses, chocolate and toffe but that quickly fades. Agitation revives the head and some chocolate notes but the molasses and toffe are long gone. Flavor is of nothig. No malts, no hops, no alcohol, nothing. It’s not bad, it’s not good, it’s just not there. Well this beer sure as hell isn’t gonna help get my average beer rating score up. bigrond (1055), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA

I could taste the alcohol but not really the hops. It was a rich malty quaff though. good show for Rock art tjthresh (1781), Greenfield, Indiana, USA

Down hill from there. I smell dust from the mill room. No hops. No alcohol. It tastes pretty much the same. Lots of malt, but nothing else. Sort of cardboardish as well. Light body. Water thin. Low carbonation. Dry finish. Barley Wine? I think not. adrian910ss (1435), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of roasted malt, smoke, and beef jerky. Taste is smoky with hints of roasted malt and grain. A barley wine ? Sure is different. weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA

Appears a dark brown with an amber hue when held to the light. A thick, light tan head slowly fades out. Plenty of lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of roasted malt, caramel, and light fruit with a touch of smoke.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with the roasted grain coming through on a slightly lower level.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly grainy, and a bitter & thin finish.
On a side note, this seems much better when aged. When fresh, it doesn’t have much characther unless you’re able to find it on cask somewhere.
