Commercial Description:
This is an English style ale. Amber in color, a caramel sweet body balanced with a generous portion of East Kent Goldings hops for a floral finish. Pale, carapils, crystal and black malts are used exclusively with East Kent Golding hops.

Thanks to DrDavid for this one! He picked it up for me at the brewery. 22oz brown glass pry-top. Sticker on bottom says "Sep 08." Appearance: Amber brown with cascading puddy-colored bubbles and 2 fingers of off-white head. Recedes quickly leaving spotty lacing. Nose: Sweet malt and a little mustiness. Some muted biscuity notes, almost like dry scones, and a high note of a dried dark fruit. Palate: Medium-bodied and so-weet. Slick mouthfeel and little carbonation. Flavors of lightly toasted wood, biscuit, malted grains, dry earth, and some "fruity" characters from the yeast presumably. The hops are very subtle and in a supporting role only (the way it often is with this style), mainly there to give the beer some edges. Notes: A solid American interpretation of an English Stock Ale. Not too fruity, not too light in the body, not too sweet, carbonation just right, edges defined without being sharp or flabby. A well made, sessionable and table-worthy beer.

Bottle. Malty caramel aroma, slightly sweet. Hazy amber body, small off-white head. Flavor is wonderful for the style. Lots of malt, touch of sweetness, caramel, and loads of nuts. Nuttiness continues through the finish. Smooth and very sessionable. Terrific.

Bomber poured a clear amber with a lasting creamy ivory head. Aromas of fruittiness, carmel, earthiness and light graininess. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, fruittiness and light earthiness with a smooth malty finish.

22 oz bottle. Deep amber/red beer. Aroma is very fruity with cherry notes and a bit of dark chocolate. Light diacetyl/butterscotch character. Flavour is fairly fruity with a soft malty sweetness. A fairly straightforward amber. Meh.

Bomber - Poured a dark amber in color with a very little whitish head that faded very quickly... low carbonation. Aroma is pretty non-descript... not much malt and no hops. Flavor is just as non-descript... a little sour with some fizziness... just not much there. Pretty disappointing.

Gross. Sorry, but gross. I’m thinking that the BW is the only decent thing this brewery makes. Grassy, musty, sour, bitter, nasty without a trace of sweet malt and a slick oily palate to boot. Couldn’t finish it.

Clear caramel amber pour with a thin white head. Sweet aroma of alcohol and spices. Decent flavor of caramel, alcohol and spices. The body has a light to medium thickness with a dry mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Unremarkable.

The Lure:
Grassy, herbal hoppiness playing within the caramel-coated apples. Dirty yeast attempts to sabotage the subtle interplay at work.

The Festivities:
A hint of tartness rises from the rampaging dirty yeast. Not infected, but intrinsically fishy, malt sweetness is muddled to a blur, and not much else from the dusty yeast can be tasted. Another very disappointing product from Rock Art.

Transcendence:
Too tired to clean up behind the couch.
