Commercial Description:
Influenced by a Belgian yeast and good old fashion brewer creativity. Ah yes, lay this one down in your cellars for years to come. Enjoy this one alone for its malt and hop complexity. For entertaining suggestions try a sweet pairing of raisins or sugar coated dates. For a meal start with a soft spreadable herb cheese from fresh cows milk on a nice toasted piece of baguette. Then serve Carbonnade of Beef (Belgian national stew) with candied yams and pan fried green beans tossed with butter and sliced almonds.

(22oz bottle) Large beige head atop cloudy dark brown body, nice lacing. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, some raisin, nut, brown sugar, yeast, faint spiced banana. Taste is moderately sweet, raisin/prune, caramel, nut, some alcohol. Some alcohol dryness in the finish. Light-medium body, some chalkiness, does a poor job of holding the alcohol.

Bottle at chris_o’s "smash Kook’s granny tasting". Alround rating: Big roasty malt character, fruity notes of through the the roast dominates, not the cleanest of beers. Acht!

Transparent copper amber with a thin-lacing ring of off-white head. Aroma of lightly sweet doughy malts with a touch of clove and earthy spices. Starts a little thinner with some earthy doughy yeasty notes and mild sweetness with a drier slightly toasty finish. An interesting Belgian strong, but could use a little more body and sweetness.

Bottle... Clear ruby ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Good retention. The aroma is of a sweet, Brooklyn, NY chocolate egg cream; Hershey’s syrup with a touch of lactic acid. Chocolaty, Belgian dubbel flavor. No European yeast complexity, but a nice, malty experience nonetheless. Hints of dark raisins and lactic acidity. Full-bodied and lightly oily with medium carbonation. Gently bitter, mineral, dry finish. Bottle provided by growler. Thanks Scott!
