| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Pours a hazy deep brownish amber colour with a medium beige head that dimples as it fades with good retention. There is nice lacing left in concentric rings as well. The nose is laced with grapefruit hops, pine resin, toffee, vinous malts and dates. The flavour is intensely hoppy, but not very enjoyable. The diacetyl is out of control, with toffee madness that crosses the boundary from tasty town to offensive land. There are some citric notes, pine bitterness, some caramel, vinous malts, BOOZE, overly fragrant hops that are perceptually vegetal plastic. The body is watery, the carbonation is weak and the ethanol presence is overt and offensive. This is why barley wines are usually at the bottom of my list in terms of preference of style. They are either amazing or awful. Ugah bu11zeye (5470), Frisco, Texas, USA

Dark honey color with a thin eggshell ring for a head. Floral hops dominate the nose. Definite lemongrass present although it also possesses an underlying malty sweetness. Not cloying...ample carbonation. Good beer. greenhorn1 (460), Mission Viejo, California, USA
