Dec 7, 2008 Sampled at Big Pour Mesa, AZ. This one seemed more DIPA than their DIPA. Dark honey color with a thin eggshell ring for a head. Floral hops dominate the nose. Definite lemongrass present although it also possesses an underlying malty sweetness. Not cloying...ample carbonation. Good beer.

Dec 1, 2008 22 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber with a small head. Aroma is mainly malt with a hint of citrus and pine. Flavor is citrus, mainly grapefuit, caramel malts, pine.

Nov 29, 2008 Bomber. Pours brown with no carbonation. Smells of pine tar, caramel, raisins, metal, soap. Tastes bitter with plastic, pine resin dominating. Messy and overdone.

Nov 28, 2008 thanx to Sammy for this one. reddish brown, decent tan foam, nose is hops, very citrus and pine. flavor is hoppy as well but nice sweet malts and alcohol make this one well rounded and drinkable

Nov 28, 2008 Clear copper colored pour with a small, short lived head. Nice aroma of caramel malt and pine and citrus hops. Flavor follows those lines as well. Slightly sweet and fruity up front giving way to a nice hoppy finish with a bit of an alcohol kick. Very drinkable for the ABV, and overall a nice brew.

Nov 27, 2008 On tap at Draft Magazine’s Big Pour in Mesa. Pours a clear amber with a half finger off white head and decent lacing. Nose is sweet malt and citrus hops. Taste is caramel upfront followed by tart citrus and a piney finish. Medium mouth feel. Pretty good BW.

Nov 27, 2008 A great barleywine. Hoppy and balanced, and surprising 100 IBU, certainly can’t taste it. Aroma is very nice. Big soapy white head on a brown body, inviting. Good bitterness. Dry hopping, leads to dry and pleasant hopped finish. Very drinkable.Medium mouthfeel.

Nov 26, 2008 11/21/08 notes: bomber, part of tasting. Pours dark red with a medium cream head. Aroma is boldly floral, with the addition of some citrus and guava. Flavor was dominated by hops of the citrusy variety, especially grapefruit. Finish was bitter, and tasty. Nice beer overall, and much better than I was expecting. Rock Art did a fine job masking that 10% ABV. One final note: done come into this beer expecting a nutty, complex BW.
