Commercial Description:
We're proud to present American Dream Ale, our unique West Coast IPA, in honor of American Beer Month. We picked the finest hops from Washington's Yakima Valley to give this historic pale ale a decidedly American twist. Floral, citrus and pine character burst from the Yakima hops to mix with the crisp, slightly dry malt flavor for a never bitter ale even the snobbiest limey would love.

Dark gold color with a slight head. Solid hops aroma. The taste of hops was well balanced by malt. Floral and spice as well. Dry. A tasty IPA.

(Draft: Rock Bottom in San Diego, CA) Boring! It's listed as an IPA on the Rock Bottom web site, but this beer is so bland, light flavored and lacking in hops, it can't be an IPA; I have to believe the San Diego brewer brewed a completely different recipe because this comes across as a light wheat beer; Or more likely, the bartender poured the wrong fucking beer; This is not hoppy, and there's no grapefruit anywhere; The mild flavor is sweet, very slightly spicy, light wheat, light bitterness, and just plain light all around; Light to medium bodied palate is more substantial than the flavor suggests; The nose is very weak, not much of anything here, maybe light wheat and citrus, but very light; Pale yellow color, moderately hazy; Off-white head

Tap into shaker, Rock Bottom at State and Grand (Chicago). Best Rock Bottom beer I’ve had. The appearance wasn’t anything special. Smelled very citrusy, dominated by grapefruit notes. The taste was exactly the same: acidic grapefruit. Surprisingly, it wasn’t bitter at all; all the hops flavor was citrusy, and there was barely any bitter bite to it. Beer flavored grapefruit juice. Delicious, but a little disappointing and not too complex. The finish was medium length and dry, very nicely characteristic, and a bit more bitter than the body, but still not that much (esp. for an IPA). The mouthfeel was right on: medium to full bodied, smooth.

Hazy reddish golden body with a nice, tight white head. Big, hoppy nose that is very focused on citrus fruit, with a bit pine thrown in for good measure. There is a bit of barely detectable caramel in the nose, but it is purely man-handled by the hops. The body is pretty good, though a bit harsh. Otherwise, its full and definitely has a presense. The flavor is good, but there is a little too much reliance on the hops, in my estimation. Fresh, bitter hops are all over this one, but a little more sweet malt to better balance this would make it superb. Not to say this is without malt, it’s just my tastes, while they enjoy bitter, citric hops in this manner, also enjoys a bit more sweet malt. The finish is very dry and completely satisfying. Another well done offering from Rock Bottom.

Well i see this one has a pretty good rating but i cannot agree with this. This beer looked ok and the aroma was good, but the flavor left a lot to be desired. Off balanced and has a nasty aftertaste that coats the mouth.

Phoenix, Az. Nice and light, hazy golden color. Mellow citrus aroma, floral not overbearing. Smooth and well balanced flavor. A small hop bite was a little askew on the palate. Still ended up clean and refreshing, a dream worth remembering.
