| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 8, 2007 Server described it as a "Brewmaster’s Choice" porter, but investigation discovers that it was actually this stout. The beer poured a dark brown (practically black) with a very thin, tan head. The aroma was strong with coffee and had hints of malts and licorice. The flavor was malty and strong with a smooth, rich flavors of roasted grain, reminiscent of a very fine coffee or espresso. The middle of the tongue picks up more malts and the zing of carbonation. The beer finished medium in body and bittersweet with notes of malts and coffee and a mild taste of earthy hops. Overall, a decent brew - one of the better efforts in the sampler. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 6, 2006 Draft at the brewpub. Blackish brown with a lacy tan head. Aroma of coffee and smoke. Medium to light body with light carbonation. Lightly hopped. Coffee in the taste and some smoke in the finish. This beer seems bigger than their Irish stout, but still seems not very stout for a stout. I’m guessing this is a nitro pour? On the upside it would be sessionable. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 11, 2005 Mostly black with a little too brown light at the bottom. Just slightly off-white creamy nitro head, with a thick ice cream foam lacing. Typical nitro thin body... roasted malts, gritty dark roast cold coffee. A decent parched bitterness, nugget hops perhaps? Typical brewpub stout. leitrim65 (398), Seattle, Washington, USA
