Roasted coffeebeans, caramal and malt nose- nice. Tastes to much of dusty grounded coffee beans in your mouth - also a sour milk aftertaste. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2006 On tap at Rock Bottom Chicago. Murky brown, chocolatey coloring with a thin, off-white head. Tons of chocolate, along with a touch of toasted biscuit are up front in the nose. Wow, after my first taste I am impressed. This is much more flavorful, balanced, thick, and chocolatey than the Irish stout I had a few minutes before. There’s also a tiny touch of hops that give this beer a subtle extra dimension. Overall, my favorite brew out of the standard rotations. SledgeJr (2963), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 6, 2006 On tap at the Bethesda location. Dark amber to a light brown color with a thin white head. At first there’s no aroma, but after the beer warms, you can detect a slight caramel toffee scent. Malty and chocolatey flavor Caramel notes as well. I think this was being offered as a cask-conditioned ale at the time- it seemed rather smooth and mildly carbonated. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Flavor was nutty, caramel malts toffee and coffee. Medium body to it. Okay beer" Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 5, 2006 Again, why I had to add this I don’t know. Another one of their beers listed on the website. Then again I’m not surprised because I almost forgot about it too. One of the worst beers I had that night at the brewpub...other than the light beer. This one reminded me of a lot of maibocks i’ve had at crappy brewpubs. i know that makes no sense but this had no flavor, just water and alcohol. They know how to describe their beers as appealing...no matter how inaccurate they are. And by the way, how stupid and redundant is the name of this beer. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 19, 2006 This brown ale pours brown with a thin white head. It smells and tastes like caramel and coffee. There are some other flavors hidden as well in the unique aftertaste. This was my favorite of the night. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA

Hazy brown ale having tiny diminishing head. No discernable carbonation. Light malt aroma. Thin-to-medium bodied that starts dry with tiny malt sweetness and roasty malt flavor. Finishes dry with light lingering bitterness. Though drinkable, this lackluster beer was rather thin textured and watery flavored. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Dec 26, 2005 This draft brew from the brewery poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized of unnoted length light brown colored bubbles that left behind an excellent lacing. The body contained no carbonation, was transparent and deep caramel brown color in color. Its mild aroma contained notes of brown malt sweet dough. Its mouth feel is initially smooth malty and a mild malt bite in the finish. Its flavor contained thin malt sweet brown malty notes.
