Light nutty-cherry-vanilla nose. Pretty rich choco-nut flavor, and lovely body. At the top of the Rock Bottom heap for me, at the moment. JMerritt (1325), Macomb, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 29, 2004 On draft at Chicago. Murky red-brown with a small, diminishing head. Light caramel and roasted malt aroma. Toasty flavor, with some chocolate malt and a hint of milk chocolate. Creamy and sticky, which was a surprise. Pretty tasty. Sweet caramel and chocolate malts with hint of black patent(?). Little hop character or bitterness. A fairly sweet beer, but balanced enough to make it a good session beer. Had I closed my eyes, there was nothing about this that would have made me think Brown Ale. It was clean drinking, fiarly hoppy, but there weren't the loveable fruit and nuts qualities there that I really enjoy in alts and English browns. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 23, 2004 Dark brown appearance with a moderate white head. Flavor is nutty with some roasted malts. There are some mild chocolate flavors peaking through. This is right on par with all the generic brown ales in the world. I will say that I do enjoy this style so I was not disappointed. It's a good session brown ale but it's nothing you could impress anyone with.
