Commercial Description:
This is a rich, deep brown ale with a roasty character. It is smooth and malty, full-bodied and somewhat sweet. Editor's Note: This beer is one of Rock Bottom's standards and is available at many of their breweries.

One of the better brown ales. I like Chicago’s version the best. Very smooth.

Dark brown in color (looked a little weak but that was a deception), with an off-white ring for a head. Toasty malted aroma with caramel and a hint of alcohol. Balanced flavor leaning towards the malts with a thorough bitter-sweetness. A little oily on the tongue with a spicy, nutty finish. My favorite at Rock Bottom, similar to Goose Island Hex Nut with a strong, biting finish like a scotch ale.

Very yummy. Dark brown ale with a lighter body that belies its true nature. Rather malty, yet mild enough to drink as a session ale. One of RBottom’s best ales. Think Newcastle and you’re not far off.

At RB Chicago: Dark dirty brown with a nice tan head. Grainy goodness and a bit choco-roasty.

This was the best of the lot. Good flavor. Good palate. Both Wakie and I enjoy this.

This beer is really nutty! Very easy to drink, and it is warm and smooth. I liked it.

On cask. Dark brown pour with creamy tan head. Smooth malty aroma, creamy velvet texture with tones of roasted chocolate. Very smooth and drinkable, creamy lightly hopped chocolaty finish. Quite good but not too complex and could have more flavor. If it weren’t on cask I think it would lose at least half a point, but the silky texture really complements this well

The best of the Rock Bottom offerings today at the Chicago location. Pours a dark brown color with a nice red hue. The aroma is strongly malty with nuts, whole grains, chocolate and caramel. A little sweet with nice bitterness in the finish.
