| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 28, 2005 Perfectly clear, honey-golden appearance, with a solid, 1/2" head of soft white foam...presentable...
Aroma is mild, sly, speaks up sparely with grassy notes, herbs, hay, and then the rye sticks out of there, unmistakably...interesting...
Taste? soft, sensuous entry on the palate, and very smooth, nothing from hops, malt is mellow, nothing really stands out. A bit dull, actually, but I believe it was meant to be more of a quaffer, with an interesting grain profile. There’s a just a little bit of something that sticks in the throat, and dances gingerly in the mouth...pleasure meets supreme drinkability...not bad, not bad at all...the kind of laid-back brew for when you have no interest in any kind of "shock and awe" in your beer...(but, personally, I won’t get too far into this growler before I give up and go running for an imperial stout!)

The aroma is slightly bitter and grassy from the hops with a slight rye note. Very similar flavor with a touch of sweetness and a nice bready note. Medium bodied and smooth. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 31, 2005 Tap in Milwaukee. Translucent orange with a small, creamy head. Aroma is honey, lemons and a touch of rye. Very subdued. Rye characteristics are most evident in the finish - it’s more of less a heavy heaping of brewers yeast that leads to the rye accents. Grassy, with a vanilla milkshake like smoothness. Very muted and non-aggressive. One for the masses. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 23, 2005 Tap in Milwaukee. Pours a bright gold/yellow color with a frothy head. Very thin aroma of a grain field. The taste is a pretty mild mix of fresh grains. Thankfully the rotten silo taste isn’t there, but there really wasn’t any rye to speak of. It’s not bad, but nothing to shout "Yippie!" over either. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 11, 2005 tap at brewpub-pours a light amber hue with a big white head. ok, this is mostly a diacytl mess with some dry rye qualities in the aroma. Flavors are dyacytl, some faint grainy qualities, but the buttery notes still just are too much. this had potential. the body is decent and there is a good mouthfeal here, but the diacytl is just too much! chinreallyfat (21), Chula Vista, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 31, 2004 Draft. Light amber color. Medium body. Very drinkable, with moderate hops and not overpowering malt. Very different taste than I expected. Travels well in jug. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
