Rock Bottom Chicago Belgian Rye P.A.

Draft at RB - Chicago. Poured clear golden color with an average fizzy white head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate fruity, yeast and toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium earthy rye sweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met with a solid beer.

[2503-20090926] Tap. Little sweaty orange rind citrus hops aroma with horse grains. Slightly hazy, pale amber orange body with a long-lasting creamy white head. More orange rind citrus hops in the flavour with mild resin. Medium body is a little bitter. Very drinkable, good.

2009-09-26. Amber body, off white head and lace. Lovely aroma, floral/leafy hop blend, something interesting that I can not place but I like, light fruit touches. 7+ Flavour is similarly fruity, illegible with tart touches of apricot/citrus fruit, modest bitterness throughout. 7+ Smooth average palate. Pale amber pour with a thin white head. The nose is quite citrusy and spicy with a lot of orange and grapefruit. Light spiciness along with a bit of resinous hoppiness. Orangey and a little bit chewy. Fresh and spicy with a unique combination of spice and fruit, somewhat like the saison, but more malt forward. Nice.

Delicious combo of some of my favorite beer styles! dark belgian fruit flavors with lots of hoppy citrus flavors and spicy bitterness of rye - awesome - better than other rye p.a. beers I’ve had - except maybe Red’s Rye (gotta try it again) - but not as good as Chouffe Tripel IPA

(Draught) Pours a hazy yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of florals, grass, pine, rye, and orange. Flavor of hops (orange, grapefruit, earth, grass), Belgian yeast, and light caramel malt with a bitter finish.

Hazy light copper beer topped by an off white head. Very estery aroma- hot fermentation aromas of banana and rotted peach-like muted hop notes. Fairly rounded carbonation. Starts with a decent fruity flavor at the fore- ripe peach like U.S. hybrid hop notes followed by an astringent estery character of evident hot fermentation and banana and chalky phenolics. This batch was quite off.

draught at 2009 oak park micro brew and food review. huge spicy nose. golden appearance. fluffly head recedes quick to nothing. flavor is spicy rye intermingled with fruity esters of subtle peach and general sweetness. this particular combination of spice and fruit i have never experienced before, delightful.
