[2491-20090926] Tap. Sweet vanilla oak wood aroma has super roasty wood. Black body with a medium-lasting foamy brown head and is a little sludgy. Sweet heavy bourbon oak wood flavour has rich sweet malt. Full body. Quite bourbony, enjoyable but wow it’s punchy.
(Called Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout @ Three Floyds; Munster, IN)

2009-09-26. Black creamy brown head. Very oaky aroma at first, vanilla, bourbon, alcohol. Mellows a bit after first sniff. 7+ Flavour is quite alcoholic at first, sweet chocolaty touches, mild vanilla and bourbon carry into a warmingly alcoholic finish. Smooth medium to full bodied palate. Bourbon varies from in your face to delicately restrained. Solid, bit too bourbony for my tastes. Bit raw overall. On tap as RB BBA Stout at Three Floyd’s, Munster.

On tap at RB Chicago about two weeks ago. I was told this was aged 5 months in the bourbon barrel. Nose of bourbon, sweet malts, alcohol, and roasted malts. Thick black in color with a brown ring of a head. Sweet chocolate and roasted malt flavors are the base with bourbon poured on like maple syrup on pancakes. The sweet bourbon leads to red fruit flavors, cherries, and more booze. Although it is roasty overcoming all that alcohol is a challenge. Too fruity and boozy. Five months is evidently too long on the barrel, or that barrel was maybe just too wet with bourbon. But if you like bourbon, this Bud, could be for you.

tap at RB Chicago.... close to black pour with dark reddish brown edges and a wispy light tan head... aroma of sweet vanilla, smoothened bourbon, alchohol phenols, and hints of cherry... bourbon infused flavor combined with a fruit forward stout with an adequate degree of chocolate. light to medium body. aroma was more pleasing than the flavor.

Pours black with a tan head. Vanilla, chocolate, and bourbon aroma. Thick and sweet. Some dark fruit flavor even. Another solid Bourbon beer from RB. Has some alcohol strength to it.

On tap in Chicago. Pours a charcoal color with a reddish brown head. Loaded with bourbon and vanilla on the nose. Tastes watered down -- big time -- with notes of flour and overripe plums. Bland and disappointing.

A deep dark stout with a very thin light moka head. In aroma, a nice light wooden bourbon barrel, more porto like, with light fungal notes. In mouth, an interesting and wild stout, with light Brett notes, chocolate, a bit of metallic notes, warming alcohol, a notes of cherries. Rich, enticing and appreciated. On tap at brewpub, May 17 2009.
