pours black, impervious to light, with the slightest suggestion of a tan lacy head. all i caught in the aroma was coffee beans. the flavor is mostly like drinking black coffee, and i coul’d detect nothing else (no wonder it’s for breakfast). i don’t paticularly like coffee, or breakfast, or waking up in hte morning, so this brew already has four strikes against it (stirke 4: the flavor).

On tap at FoBAB 5. This stout poured an opaque black with a small, dark tan head. The aroma of the beer was made up of overbearing, cold, french roast coffee, and some charred malts. The flavor was also dominated by coffee, Not much else was able to sneak in. Maybe just a touch of bourbon. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with decent carbonation. Just an okay effort, and this is coming from a coffee lover.

On tap at FoBAB 5. Poured black with a light cap of deep brown head. The aroma picked up lots of deeper-roasted coffee and dark chocolates with very little barrel influence.. a bit of charred oak and the faintest bourbon, but no more. The flavor picked up bunches of roasted coffee maltage and bitterness with lesser chocolate, some sour oak, and light vanilla.. tasty, but not great. About medium-bodied with warm coffee sweetness and bitterness on the palate.. somewhat creamy across the middle.. felt no better than OK.

FoBAB 2007, Chicago. Cuppa cuppa cuppa cup-caffiene zombie! Too, too bitter from coffee, in my humble opinion. Oatmeal smell should have smoothed it, but it’s just too coffee bitter. Looked great in the glass, even had a nice coffee smell. Just came in too bitter. But I’m sore more people will come in loving it.
