Commercial Description:
This rich, deep American Brown Ale is brewed with roasted wheat, oats, biscuit and chocolate malts to combine a subtle roasted character with hints of chocolate. Surprisingly light-bodied, this brown ale utilizes Chinook and Willamette hops for a well-balanced and drinkable brew.

Note: This is brewmaster Pete Crowley's recipe. Rock Bottom does not have "corporate recipes."

Draft... DLD’08... Dark brown ale with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki head. Great retention. Wafts of milk chocolate and lightly toasted nuts ascend from the glass. Medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and almost-expired carbonation. Sweet and chocolaty with decent English hop bitterness. Balanced, cocoa finish

Tap. Not a bad beer but not the best thing ever. Full color and flavor but a bit imbalanced and grainy - like Pizza Port’s American Brown.

Not a bad brown. Decent beer, but normally I don’t order off of the main line of beers here anymore. Pours dark brown with thin tan head. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma. The flavor is actually pretty sweet for a brown ale. Has a little bit of chocolate, but it is a little too sweet. Still not a bad beer though.

(10/9/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Chicago. 5.5% ABV. Dark brown. Aroma has nice dark fruitiness, some caramel and some roastiness. Sweet flavor with some roasted malt, some fruitiness and some nuts. Medium-bodied. Enjoyable.

Draft sample at Chicago. Poured a hazy dark brown color with a minimal frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Medium roasted grain and chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium chocolate sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable beer.

From the tap is pours a deep brown and is capped by a bubbly tan head. The aroma holds sweet roasted malts, chocolate, and a a light nuttiness. It’s a bit thin, but the malty sweetness is tasty and the nuts balance the drink out. Sessionable.

Draught at the brewpub
Black color. Roasted malt aroma. Light body, but smooth texture, with roasted malt flavor overall, and chocolate and ashes too. Good bitterness level. Too much roasted malt in the final. Not my beer, but good.
