On tap at FoBAB 4. Poured mahogany with a medium cap of beige head. Sweet, nice bourbon blend in the aroma on top of a caramel and toffee base with some pine and citrus coming through. Overpowering bourbon in the flavor department.. past that there was a nice barley wine / aged double IPA feel with rich fruits, molasses, and herbal and pine hops... certainly got better as it warmed. Heavier on the palate with sharp bourbon in too many places to feel great. Not bad.

FoBAB 2008. Poured an opaque black color. The head was light brown. Smelled of bourbon, vanilla, dark fruits, and chocolate cake. Full bodied and slightly sweet. Big malt bill with toffee and light roasty bitterness that peaked through the sugars. Vanilla and bourbon flavors imparted by the barrel were also present. Good beer.

FoBAB 2008. Pitch black body with a nice creamy tan head. Viscous. The aroma is nutty with tons of sweet barley and lots of English hops. Almost like oatmeal. Subtle bourbon. Rich charred oak with a nice creamy chocolate. A nice blend of English Barleywine and Stout. Clean full palate with a long lasting non-sticky finish.

Bubbly amber body with a thin off-white head. Combo of Imperial Stout and Imperial IPA. Two of my favorite styles. Nose was Bourbon, oak, citrus, coffee, caramel. Big on mouthfeel. Bourbon strong in the flavor with a nice bitter finish. Very interesting.

FoBAB 08. Pours black with a creamy brown head. Lots of sticky hops in the nose. SOme milky chocolate too. This thing tastes like a pissed off candy bar. Chocolate, caramel, and chewy fruit. Very full and rich body. Average carbonation. Surprisingly dry.

sampled at 2008 FOBAB....dark brown almost black pour with a thin wispy light brown head...aroma of sweet chocolate with soft vevely bourbon.... chocolate and bourbon upfront with a sweet lingering boozy finish. medium yet lively carbonation and a boozy finish. one of the tastier offering of the day.

FoBAB 2008 offering: #713 - Black opaque pour with a prominent cocoa hued head. Aroma is a cross between bourbon and oak mixed with some sweet malty characteristics that give off coffee, vanilla, and a little chocolate. Very malt forward as the stout and barley wine mix, a very telltale taste after this festival. Finishes with some warming bourbon / boozyness.
