Dark brown black pour with a tan head. Smell is sweet malt and fruit and maybe some chocolate. Raspberries are present in taste. Big bold flavor of bourbon and malt. Very thick and creamy and enjoyable. Creamy and yummy!
kseecs16 (513), Westmont, Illinois, USA Aug 18, 2008 Draught at the pub, 08/17/08. In a snifter, appears opaque big creamy cocoa head. Strong sweet bourbony chocolate aroma. Rich creamy palate some roast bitter and biting alcohol in the finish. A good strong but not over bearing imperial stout. Flavor is some dry barrel sweet chocolatey bitterness.
17thfloor (636), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 16, 2008 Pours dark black with a thin mocha head. Big raisin, dark fruit, bourbon, some wood, and molasses aroma. I love this beer. Raisin, strong bourbon, semi-sweet, fantastic light wood, lighter chocolate and notes of licorice. This stuff really puts the Paradox stuff to shame. Medium/full body, light creaminess with light carbonation. Fantastic! kp (6200), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Aug 13, 2008 Name: Redline Bourbon Imperial Stout

The second timed tapping I made certain to be here as I had missed this last year. Not wanting to do so again I began to taper down so the palate would be fresh after a fourth barrel aged beer. While I did not quite find it to be on par with the best of the best this is certainly no slouch. I would love to get to downtown Chicago and have it again.
Aroma / Appearance - The black body had a thin tannish head that was a shadow of the previous sample. However the lacing was smooth and creamy. Vanilla, smoke, coffee and dark chocolate tickled the nose nicely. Overall it could have been a little more complex but it was not flawed.
Flavor / Palate - Chewy like a well made chocolate filled truffle it coated the throat in silky smooth bourbon, vanilla and coffee. Perhaps a bit unbalanced this was solid nonetheless. My initial rating appears to have suffered due to being preceded by such an amazing beer but after consideration I have to put this just below the best of the best.
