| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 23, 2009 Draft at RBC. Pours a pleasant bronze. Nose is a bit hot and sweet with a touch of spice. On taste, it’s not very well put together, leading you in different directions. I’d expect more malty/biscuity notes and less fizzy alcohol notes. Not a big fan and its too boozy. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 19, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Luckily I had this one before the Smackdown IPA as I can see why it would have numbed the taste buds! Pours a nice soft brown with a shade of red and a decent white frothy head. Aroma is a nice blend of toasty malt and biscuit and some light esb like light fruitiness mixed with just a hint of hop spice. Flavor is also nicely biscuity and refreshingly fruity with a very noticeable earthy hop character that was very pleasant in the finish. Medium creamy body and a nice active carbonation. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 14, 2009 Has this beer on draft tonight, but unfortunately after having the Simcoe Smackdown! IPA, which probably ruined my taste buds (or at least numbed them). Pours reddish brown with an average sized head. Aroma of spice and malt. The 7.0% ABV was evident and this seemed like a much stronger and sweeter beer than any other Alt I have ever had. Solid beer though.
