shigadeyo (1387), Southwest Ohio Area, Ohio, USA Jun 11, 2008 6/10/2008: American Dream is above average this year. It is a shiny gold IPA that is slightly has an sports a small, off-white head on top. Citrus (orange, tangerine, grapefruit) pops from the aroma and flavor at first and then gives way to some toasty honey maltiness. The hop and malt are well balanced and there is only a mild to moderate level of bitterness. This medium-bodied beer is smooth, soft on the palate, and quite sessionable. Overall this would be a great Pale Ale as it is a little bit too weak for a full IPA. Regardless, it is pretty tasty and does a nice job of showcasing the Amarillo hop.
Draught (2 mugs) at Rock Bottom in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio Rating #7 for this beer...
alexsdad06 (662), Ohio, USA Jul 5, 2008 Draught @ Rock Bottom. Pours a clear dark golden in color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma is light moderately sweet toasted malts and citrus hops with a hint of pine. The flavor is pretty well balanced between toasted malts and the citrus and pine hops. Medium bodied and easy to drink. This could be the best they have right now. AllAboutStout (523), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jun 10, 2008 On draft at RB Cincy of course.
Pours a golden amber in color with a nice inch of frothy head. Smell is subdued, but there are some piney, grassy hop notes in the nose.
The hops show up more in the taste. This is a decent IPA. Easily the best thing they have going at the brewery. A little disappointing on the smell, but pretty good in flavor. GMUcrew7 (204), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jun 6, 2008 Pours yellow with a hint of orange with off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a little lacing behind. Very nice citrus and pine hop aromas. Very well balanced beer, starts with good malty sweetness and finishes with the citrusy hops. Has a good bitterness at the finish and a nice smooth palate, a very good beer, probably the best from the cincy rock bottom. mcallister (30), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jun 16, 2007 A lovely shade of scarlet. Little white head that leaves an
extremely thin lace around the glass.
Citrusy aromas with a floral hop background. Also some
pineapple, and grapefruit aromas.
A solid IPA niceley balanced. More pine in the mouth with a
grassy citrusy finish of pineapple and orange. A solid malt
round out this beer.
Easy drinker with a carbonated acidic mouthfeel.
