alexsdad06 (618), Ohio, USA Aug 2, 2008 Draft @ Cincy brewpub. Pours clear brown with a medium sized beige head. The aroma is straightforward malty aroma that is a little nutty. The flavor is much of the same: roasted malts, lightly nutty, and a hint of chocolate. This is a good example of a brown ale. GMUcrew7 (171), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 10, 2008 Part of the 6 beer sampler, pours nice dark brown. Aroma is has a very nice nuttiness, flavor is also very nice well balanced mix of caramel malts and the nuttiness. A very good brown ale. beerheart (219), Erie, Colorado, USA Dec 12, 2007 I’m not a big fan of brown ales. Generally they taste skunked to me. This was nice. Very nutty taste with light roasted malts and hints of chocolate. Tmoney99 (3503), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Nov 7, 2007 Draft at Cincinnati brewpub. Poured clear brown color with average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate toasted ntty malt aroma. Flavor was moderate malty bittersweet with an average bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Medium body. Good brew with homestyle food. Crafty07 (333), Lexington, Kentucky, USA Nov 5, 2007 Finest of the five draft choices we had at this very nice Cincinnati brewpub, the Brown Bear offers everything you’re looking for in an excellent brown ale, excellent color and nose and robust malty taste with just the right amount of bitterness and chocolate sweetness at th end. Nicely done.
