Finishes with a little bourbon on the back of the throat. ratman197 (2272), Arvada, Colorado, USA Feb 23, 2008 On tap @ Rock Bottom Denver poured a nearly opaque black with a lasting creamy brown head. Aromas of bourbon, vanilla, oak, chocolate, light roastiness and a hint of coffee. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, vanilla, carmel, bitter chocolate, light wood and light roastiness with a smooyh lingering bourbon finish. Kevin (1765), Colorado, USA Jul 12, 2007 tap at the brewpub. dark black with a thick nitro head. booze whiskey nose with some chocolate. bourbon flavor transferred to the beer cleanly, not a lot of bitterness, some light smoke and a creamy cocoa flavor. after finishing the first half of the glass this gets to feeling solky in my mouth, the bourbon becomes more apparent and this starts to finish with more caramel. not a bad beer, especially when it warms a bit. The_Beer_God (2837), Newport News, Virginia, USA Oct 8, 2006 Draft at Rock Bottom Denver. Dark brown to near black. Nose is bourbon, vanilla, roasty malts and oak. Taste is bourbon, vanilla, light molasses, chocolate and roasted malts. Not unlike the ChopHouse versions to which I’m accustomed. Body is a bit too light but is creamy and smooth. Ends with more bourbon notes, vanilla, roasted malts and chocolate. Nice! Retorp (2158), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 2, 2006 Draft at the Brewpub. Chocolate/light bourbon and oak aroma. Flat black with a pinky thin mocha head that is fairly lasting. Smooth and silky milk chocolate accented fore. The bourbon aging has thinned it which seems to happen to many of these beers, but it’s still decently thick if thinner than a better sweet stout. The bourbon is a mild component yet the flavor lingers well into the finish and mixes with the oak to creat a coconut like flavor.
