Cybercat (421), Georgia, USA Jul 1, 2008 This pours a deep sable brown, almost black and almost opaque. Smoke dominates the strong aroma, which has hints of coffee and malt. Flavor is much like roast coffee, smoky and strong, with some malt and hop components. Texture is fairly thick, the way I like a stout. Aurelius (2507), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 26, 2005 Phoenix. Nutty stout aroma with a bit of sweet dairy. Great appearance - pitchy black with a light tan head which lasts forever. Dry, tangy with hazel nut and a tarry bitter. Very good mouth and buffered finish. Quality stuff. zach8270 (1421), Henrietta, New York, USA Mar 11, 2004 Updated: Jul 15, 2004(draft @ Rock Bottom Pittsburgh - Homestead, PA) Deep black color with a tan head. Reminds me of most other stouts I've had. Very faint aroma, has a slightly creamy nose, but not much else. Initial taste definitely had a cream feel to it. A bit watery, but blended well with the cream. The stout provided the coffee taste that perfectly balanced the creamy finish. A bit too watery for my taste though. BeerandBlues2 (2510), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Oct 27, 2007 Draught at Downtown Denver location. Pours black with an average, frothy, creamy, light brown head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, coffee, toasted grain), light hops (grass), average yeast (leather) with notes of brown sugar. Full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. The_Beer_God (2855), Newport News, Virginia, USA Oct 8, 2006 Draft at Rock Bottom Denver. Opaque blackness. Small but sturdy tan head. Nose is roasty and sweet with lots of choco and coffee aromas. Taste buds are assaulted by roasted malts, chocolate and light coffee with only minimal lactic tartness. Body is rather creamy with a nice velvety smoothness over the palate. Very fine carbonation on this one. Perhaps this was nitro but not noted that way? Ends with a sweetened and creamed coffee flavor and more chocolate. Only light lactic tartness here as well.
