[Tap at Rock Bottom, Denver] A very dark brown beer with a small disappearing off-white head. The aroma is very slight of caramel. The flavor is sweet and nutty with hints of caramel and a slightly dry hoppy end. The mouthfeel is soft.

Light cola brown pour, the off-white head leaves after seconds. Earthy malts fit well with the soily, floral dirty hops. Lots of roastiness, mellow smoke and cola sweetness counterbalancing. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, slightly astringent. A competent brown ale for what it’s worth.

Draft @ DIA. Dark brown, somewhat cloudy, unfiltered, with a tan head. Decent nose of toasted grains, some chocolate malt, even some roast... notes of bready chocolate, charred toast, etc. Body is medium to light, dissolves on the back. Minimally astringent. Good presentation of roast for a brown ale, some charred bread, some cracked barley, cereal grains, etc. Nice enough for a brown ale.

Draught, Rock Bottom Westminster. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is medium brown. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit, apricot). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft/flat carbonation. Lots of aromatic hop presence, but not a lot of finishing bitterness. Can’t say that I like hoppy brown ales.
