Hop Bomb aged 9 months in Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrel. Big bourbon aroma. Mid brown coloured very strong in alcohol and a little sweet and rich on the palate with lots of bitterness in a crisp and slightly dry hop finish. BeerandBlues2 (3230), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 27, 2009 Draught at Rock Bottom Denver. Pours hazy dark brown with a small, rocky off-white head, somewhat diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toffee), average hop (perfume), average yeast (leather) with notes of alcohol, raisin, plum, date, apple, port, and wood. Full bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness. ratman197 (3256), Arvada, Colorado, USA

Aromas of bourbon, oak, vanilla, pine, fruittiness, carmel and a hint of maple. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, oak, vanilla, toffee, pine and light fruittiness with a smooth lingering bourbon finish. elihapa (1067), Honolulu, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 27, 2009 On tap, Rock Bottom Denver. Color is orange, brown, nose of bourbon, caramel and dark fruit. Barrel aged IPAs are generally not my favorite, but they still hold a strange allure . . . Wasn’t expecting the boldness of this brew while sitting in a Rock Bottom! Sweet, intense nose, not a style in particular, but rather a very tasty blend indeed. Fruit and wood dominate, not too much "vibrant" hops. MIBRomeo (1965), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 25, 2009 Brown to maroon pour small white well laced head. Well coated full palate, lightly creamy in the finish. Big bourbon flavor really sweets out the hops of the IPA, definitely a big alcohol present, some butter and toffee in the finish, barleywine qualities hints of vanilla. Overly barreled in the flavor still good. The alcohol comes out more as it warms with the beer taking on a fuesal quality that was very unappealing.
