| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 24, 2007 On draft in Minneapolis. Deep amber in color. Malty taste and malty aroma, small tan head...definite crystal malt flavor in this one. WISEGUY572 (1246), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 22, 2007 By the time I got to this one I really wanted to like one of the Rock Bottoms. This was cloudy dark reddish copper, some lacing, no head. Nose was musty, malt, and floral. Taste was a little better, with good malt backbone and adequate hopping. I would have called it an ale rather than a dark lager. auderale (572), Fairchild AFB, Washington, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 19, 2007 Hazy amber colored pour with medium sized head. Sweet malty aroma with a bitter hoppy finish. This was ok. tronraner (1932), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 3, 2007 Draft at the Chicago brewpub. Pours hazy red copper with solid khaki head. The aroma is toast, a little bit of biscuit, and some fruity hops. The flavor is very fruity: orange, apple, berry. There is some lightly toasted character and slight caramel. It dries a bit in the finish, but leaves a sweet, toasty aftertaste. Not outstanding, a textbook American red TheBeerGod (3162), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Draft at the Chicago location. Ruddy amber. Nose is flowery hops, sweet malts and caramel. Typical for most reds. Taste is pretty much the same. More caramel, light nuttiness, sweet malts and floral hops. The mouthfeel on this was thinner than the two previous beers I’ve had but still not watery. Mild carbonation notes. Bordering on fizzy in spots. Ends with more caramel and floral hops, light citrus and malts. Not bad overall and complimented my food well. alexanderj (2268), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Mar 12, 2007 At the Chicago RB. Aroma of some floral hops and sweet malt. Reminded me of the St. Rogue’s. Just ok. golubj (1289), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 12, 2007 Draft. The Erik the Red Ale I had was a dry-hopped american red ale, not an american dark lager. Either way, it wasn’t very good. The hop was nice, but the malty flavor was bad (reminded me of a bad amber ale).
