This beer pours to a lightly hazy red/brown body with a white head and good lacing. The aroma is malty maple syrup and cascade hops. The flavor is a roasted/toasted malt with lemongrass and Centennial hops. Kina like lemoned iced tea. Lots of fresh hops. The palate is bitter yet refreshing. Nice! jayme9874 (756), Hamburg, New York, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 24, 2006 first RB beer I’ve had critically. we got a yard of it - wayyy too much. super malty. pretty close to a red/amber ale, i’m surprised it’s a lager. tons of sweet flavor, eventually it got cloying, but not during the first pint so i can’t penalize for that. pretty in red, i didn’t take notes so i dont really remember the aroma, but i had a good impression of the beer overall so it was probably good. 3.1 score is a shame. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 26, 2005 Chicago. Translucent caramel brown with a lovely, lasting creamy tan head. Honey, caramel, rye, toffee and subtle hoppy goodness in the nose. Sweet liquefied nuts flavor. Does a damn good dance of how to do an amber right. Well-balanced. IBUs are not searing or laden with too much sprits. It’s a simple thing to ask, but it’s so rare to achieve. Medium-bodied and slick on the palate. A good session beer. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2004 1/6 barrel keg from the brewery: pours a hazed red brown with a very generous off-white head…sappy, hoppy aroma with a pinch of grapefruit, white grapes and honeyed malt. Nicely carbonated and very even flavours: chewy caramel and smooth grain mixed with a modest hop profile: pine and orange zest. A very nice session for a Sunday of football. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 16, 2005 Sample, at the Chicago location. Nearly opaque maple-bronze...caramel-herbal nose, perhaps maple and sourdough...lots of dry bitter herbal qualities on the tongue, grapefruity Cascades, underlying pale malt gives just enough body...clean, dry finish that seemed, oddly, to show hints of amaretto. Compulsively drinkable.
