hotstuff (3015), Indiana, USA May 1, 2008 Draft at College Park location, Indianapolis, IN and an ABV of 5.6%. Small tan head that mostly lasted, good amount of lacing, transparent, no carbonation observed, and a red hue. Nose was malty, caramel and hoppy. Ditto for the flavor. Smooth mouthfeel and light in body. A very easy, smooth beer to drink and nicely balanced.
thedm (3405), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 25, 2008 This draft brew from the College Park location in Indianapolis, IN poured a small sized head of medium to large sized mostly diminishing off-white colored bubbles that left behind a transparent softly carbonated dark orange colored body with a frothy top and a fair lacing. The mild thin red malt flavor contained a soft hop backing. The aroma was mild with malt-hop notes. jsquire (1848), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Apr 30, 2008 On tap at the College Park pub. Mahagony red with a sticky white head. Lightly hopped nose. Caramel sweetness with sharp pine hops and a hint of orange juice that grows in the finish. Some lightly burnt grain taste. patrick767 (1377), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Apr 6, 2008 tap at Walnut Brewing, they have their own line of beers but since they are owned by Rock Bottom, I’m going to guess their Fire Chief Red is this one.
It pours light amber and smells mainly of caramel malt. The flavor has those caramel malts along with a good hops bite. It’s light to medium bodied, easy going, and decently balanced. Very drinkable. KUEric (551), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA Mar 30, 2008 On Tap in Bethesda, MD: Pors a deep amber color, had a slightly bitter taste for an amber. I initially thought is was an Alt. Shows what I know. The description is more telling than it knows with "this beer is a Rock Bottom standard". Not a bad beer, just nothing special here. I think there are usually better beers to be had at RB, have one for the rating and move on to other, better staples.
