Draught at BrewPub: Aroma of caramel, dark ripe fruits, hops, and resin. Poured deep amber/copper in color with a small, tan head that diminished but lasted as a film on top of the beer. Lightly cloudy. Not sparkling. Full of tiny particles throughout. Lightly to medium sweet, lightly bitter flavor. Tastes of caramel, dark ripe fruits, resin, light hops, light malts, and a hint of pine. Medium body. Oily, then dry texture. Average carbonation. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter, malt, light caramel, and resin finish is dry. 10%ABV is totally hidden. Served way too cold.

GABF 2008. Deep golden, toasty cereal aroma with some subtle fruit. Butter toffee flavour, apple-baked fruit. Warming sweet finish. Nice.

Reddish pour with a medium head. Aroma of sweet fruits with apples, raisins, and caramel. Flavor is malt-dominant with lots of sugar and dark fruit. Pretty good, but I’m hoping the barrel aged one is a real winner.

pours deep gold/amber with a thin off-white head. aromas of dark fruit, caramel malts. a little scotchy and boozy. taste is heavy alcohol, toffee, caramel, plum, peach, apricot, other light fruits, warming. viscous, bubbly, scotchy. finish is light fruit, alcohol. burns on the way down. lots of caramel! overall, drinks almost like a brandy or a bourbon. pretty cool. should have had it in a snifter, but it was part of the sampler.

On tap at the 2007 GABF: Pours a transparent light copper bronze with a frothy, well-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt and some light fruity esters. Body starts fairly thick with some sticky sweet light caramel maltiness balanced with light fruity complexity toward a slightly warming, sweet finish. Has mild citrusy bittering hops throughout. A nice weizenbock.

GABF 2006: Clear amber color with an off-white head. Sweet fruity aroma with notes of sugar and cherries. Some citrus hop comes through the malt. Thick sweet malty flavor. Seems to be English style which is my favorite. Nice warmth in the chest. This should be bottled.

Poured a hazy, reddish amber color with a medium sized, light tan head, that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of cocoa, dried fruits, tons of malt, toffee and caramel, with light citrus hops, and a bit of oxidation as well. Taste of more malts, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, light citrus, with some tangerine, cocoa, with a low hop profile, and faint alcohol. Very low carbonation.
