Dry and malty, with sweet undercurrents. Musty sawdust-like aroma with dense caramel maltiness. Smooth mouthfeel. Overall similar to a brown ale, but characteristically woody with some hop spice like a proper ESB.

Draft. Orange-red with a small offwhite head. Caramel and some slightly spicy hops in the aroma. Caramel, dough, some chocolate, and tinges of herbal resinous hops. Residual bitterness and some butteriness in the finish.

On draft at Rock Bottom La Jolla in October. Notes. Deep amber color with a lingering white head. Subtle hops, nothing that would knock you over. Some malt notes as well. A very easy drink. Hops and some bitter malt. Creamy, and smooth. A very pleasant beer.

Draft. Great amber color. Medium body. Very drinkable, with moderate hops and not overpowering malt. Slightly different taste than I expected. Travels well in jug.

Draft. Amber color with a thin whitish head. Not much aroma. Malt flavor with a little bit of spiciness in the hops. Easy to drink.

Draft at RB La Jolla: Pours a nice amber color with an small off-white head. Aroma is light...detected some sweet caramel and some hops aromas. Flavor is at first malt with a nice bitterness to follow. Mouthfeel is creamy and quite pleasant.

Had a sample@the La Jolla pub: Amber color, off white head. Weak nose. Light malt flavor with just a hint of hops in the finish. Pretty average EPA.

(Draft: Rock Bottom in La Jolla, CA) Competent, though unexciting English pale ale with a mild maltiness, balanced nicely by a moderately bitter hoppiness; The maltiness falls off in the finish so the steady hops is able to exert itself a bit more; Smooth mouthfeel begins to show the creaminess of the style; The faint nose is lightly malty with a touch of hops; The color is copper-amber; Off white head drops quickly but retains the thin layer of head quite well and leaves solid lacing
