JPDIPSO (4220), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Oct 27, 2007 American Dream 8/20.07 - Draft at Wisconsin State Fair. Amber to bronze in color. Smaller off-white head. Typical as of late aromas, with grapefruit, light fruit and caramel. Flavors of caramel, grapefruit, light resin along with a floral component. A solid American IPA. prosqtor (407), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Aug 7, 2007 This is good for an IPA -- and I agree with BeerBelcher, it’s much drier and bitter than citrusy and sweet. Drinkable, I drank a few after trying some inferior RB products off tap at the RB Milwaukee. Aroma doesn’t match the taste, though. Still pretty good. BeerBelcher (714), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jan 26, 2007 It seems to me that very hoppy IPAs/APAs/DIPAs in the midwest are very citrusy or sweet, while those in the west are drier and more purely bitter. If you accept this, I would say that this IPA is more like a "west coast" IPA, with a lot of hop bitterness without a lot of sweetness. It is very dry with a lot IBUs.
Appearance is good...it is a rather golden IPA with a good amount of head. A lot of citrus aroma, but very little citrus flavor. It is boldly bitter but without a lot of balance. For as much bitterness as this beer has, I didn’t think the mouthfeel was very sticky. It was fairly drinkable. I’d order this again, but I was a bit disappointed and felt that the aroma made a promise unkept by the taste. MIBRomeo (1883), Wisconsin, USA Jul 16, 2004 small off white head looked like a thick soap bubble.. tan to red in color.. carried scents of hopps and hints of some spice.. flavor was a bit bitter w/ fruity undertones.. the pallate was very smooth w/ little to no carbonation. overall not a bad IPA but still not my style. muzzlehatch (4425), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jul 5, 2004 Sample. Mostly clear medium amber, big C-hop nose with a bit of sugar. Mostly sweet to the tongue, big late bitterness..fruity but dry, with cherries grapes and apricots distinguishable. With the brown ale, my fave from this macro-brewpub.
