Dark, clear mahogany ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. Chocolaty, nutty aroma. Chocolaty, roasted flavor with moderate tanginess, light pungency, delicate sweetness and very low bitterness. Medium-bodied with a thin, watery mouthfeel and feather-soft carbonation. Lightly chocolaty, tangy, dry finish. BückDich (4605), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 4, 2007 Draft @ Minneapolis Brewpub: Mahogany, ruby, nose of caramel and sweet nutmeg. The flavor is chewy but a bit under-malty. Dry finish, eh. Maltier than most. chriso (4420), London, Greater London, England Jul 16, 2007 On tap (sampler) at the Minneapolis location, June 2007. Mahogany colour, with a collar of foam. Very light woody malt aroma. Much stronger roasted, smoky malt presence in the flavour, with touches of caramel and chocolate. There is a slight bitterness that provides some balance and backbone and makes for a firm, but smooth, mouthfeel. An slightly different take on the Brown Ale style with a little more bitterness than the norm, but still retaining a sweet edge. I quite enjoyed this beer which seemed to me to be more than the sum of its parts.
