On tap at the Rock Bottom in KoP. Poured a dark reddish brown color with a smaller off white head. Aromas and tastes of malts and fruits. Caramel and toffee. Between this and the Oatmeal stout I had there today, I may have to revist my thinking behind Rock Bottom’s beers.

Sampled on 6/25/07 at RB Milwaukee on cask: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany brown with some floaties and a creamy, light tan head. Lightly sweet, toasty caramel malty aroma has a hint of earthy peat. Body starts lightly caramely sweet with some earthy bitter tartness throughout toward a drier finish. Also tried the regular (non-cask) version and it had a little more sweetness and less tartness. I just wasn’t a fan of this.

Draft in Cincinnati. Brown color with large frothy off-white head that was lasting and produced good lacing. Heavy roasted malt aroma. Medium body. Moderate bitter sweet nutty flavor with a small alcohol bite in the finish. Good brew.

Pours turbid amber/brown with frothy head. Aroma of malt, fruit, caramel, toffee, oak, and bourbon. Tastes malty, with big bourbon, vanilla, oak, and fruit hints. This one is very tart, almost too tart for me, with a rauchy finish. Complex and pretty solid.

Poured a dark amber color with a very thin, off white head that left very little lacing on the glass as well. Very sweet aroma of caramel, toffee, and butterscotch, with some nuts as well. Taste of roasted malt, more caramel, some peat, and light alcohol. A little too over carbonated.

Draught in Colorado Springs. Pours dark nut brown with a medium foamy head and lined lacing. Aroma is malt (chocolate, caramel, nutty). Moderately bitter, medium sweetness, milk chocolate and caramel malt, no acidity. Medium bodied and thin, fizzy palate.

On tap at the King of Prussia location. Pours a translucent copper/golden with an average off white creamy head. Aroma of scotch, sweet malts and hints of oak and toffee. Flavors of the same. A solid Scottish Ale.
