Drew (2406), Kent, Ohio, USA Nov 29, 2005 On tap at Arlington location, 11/17/05, listed at 6.0% abv. Light golden, short head, good lacing. Aroma is sweet with a warm hop. Not much detectable Saaz hop in this version - just lots and lots of Hallertau. Taste was sugary sweet malts and a warm bitter finish. I was hoping for something more exciting on this one. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA Dec 25, 2003 Not bad for a pils, this was one was very light, but sweet, creamy and sweet, and refreshing. scoobyluv (486), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Aug 24, 2003 light gold color. large head. has a slightly malty flavor with a bitter aftertaste. it's aight. Shag (1922), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Aug 23, 2003 Updated: Nov 22, 2003Yellow appearance with a large head. Flavor is slightly bitter with a citrus flavor. Pretty good for a pilsner. DrnkMcDermott (1832), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Jun 25, 2003 Draft, Chicago At the downtown Rock Bottom, they named it “Rooftop Pilsner” for its rooftop dining area (with a fine view of all the much taller yuppie condos surrounding it). They had to brew this in a hurry following the May windstorm that blew their rooftop taps open, draining all of their serving tanks!
Pretty good for a style which we've all had bad examples of. Have to give a "5" for appearance, it looks just right. Fizzy head leaves a golden yellow color underneath. No off-flaveors to speak of. Nice citrsy hop aroma which I found to be a little stronger after a scoop of salsa. As the Milwaukee corrspondent notes, a decent session beer.
